Wright “B” Flyer Half-Scale Won Trustees Award

The Wright “B” Half-Scale Flyer won the Trustees Award at Centerville’s 2017 Americana parade.  The award is given every year for the best float in the parade based on theme, originality and attractiveness.  This is the third time that the Half-Scale Flyer has won that award.  The Half-Scale depicts the day (May 25, 1910) when Orville Wright took his father, Bishop Milton Wright, for his one and only flight.   

Runway Fest & Fireworks

The 2017 Runway Fest & Fireworks event will be held at the Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport (MGY) on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 6:00 PM – 10:00 P

M.  This is a family affair that includes aircraft static displays, airplane rides, inflatables, face painting, fireworks, music, food trucks and much more.  Admission and parking are free.

The Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport is located at 10550 North Springboro Pike, Miamisburg, OH 45342.

Wright B Volunteer Jim Stoutemyer Died

Wright B volunteer James R. Stoutemyer died on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at age 86. James worked on avionics at the Wright B Flyer, Inc. for about 15 years prior to his death. He was the loving husband of the late Mary Jean Stoutemyer (nee Stubblefield), brother of Paul W. (Joyce Stoutemyer and brother-in-law of Paul Stubblefield. In addition to his brother and brother-in-law, he is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, close friends and neighbors. Funeral services were at 10:00 am., Saturday, April 22 at the Montgomery Assembly of God Church, 7950 Pfeiffer Rd., Montgomery, Ohio 45242. Memorials may be made to Montgomery Assembly of God church.

Wright B Flyer Contributes to Boys State Gymnastics Meet

Wright B Flyer contributed a year’s membership for a raffle drawing that was held at the 2017 Boys State Gymnastic Meet.  The meet was held on March 25 and 26, 2017 at the Gymnastics Training Center of Ohio (GTCO) in Franklin, Ohio.  It was sponsored by the Rings & Beams Booster Club, the parent booster organization.  The Park Ranger in the picture spoke with participants about the Aviation Trail and the National Aviation Heritage Alliance (NAHA) in the Dayton, Ohio area.
